Morgus & Morgusaroids at The Rivergate

Aldon Brink of New York City provided this gem! Here's what he had to say:

"Wow!!!!!!! I left New Orleans 4 years ago after being born & raised there since 1952. I don't know why, but one of my most endearing memories is watching Morgus, and, of course, Chopsley. What a magical time to grow up in New Orleans! I even met Morgus and Chopsley in the 60's when I was, I guess, about 13 at St. Leos Church Bazaar on Paris Ave.

What a joy to see a web page! I checked now and then to see if there was anything out there, so what a nice surprise to see this."

About the picture:
"This is from out in the crowd with a cheap camera. If you look real close you might see Morgus & Chopsley & The Morgusaroids. ...Halloween about 87' -- the Morgusaroids, or whatever his droids he created to do mundane work, were there. A pretty good band - rumor was they were The Radiators, a local New Orleans band...As bad as the picture is, I cherish it cuz I took it!

Again, thanks & I will pass it on to other transplants I meet here in the New York area.

Bye, Aldon Brink"

If you look closely just to the left of the guitar-wielding Morgusaroid, you can see ERIC in the background. Dr. Morgus says that for this performance, much of his laboratory was relocated from the Old City Ice House to the stage. After the show, the audience was invited to speak to and be photographed with the Dr. onstage. Where were ya, Aldon?!

TV Focus - Halloween 1987 Over time, Aldon continued to send an occasional email, later providing this cover from the Time-Picayune TV Focus magazine, which contained an article about the (then) upcoming Rivergate event.

In spring of 2005, I was saddened to learn that Aldon Brink had passed away. Although we never met face-to-face, I counted him among my friends and very much appreciated his sharing Morgus memories with me and Friends of Science everywhere. Be at peace, Aldon.
